The 8th International Chemistry Tournament (IChTo) took place in Bucharest, Romania, from 20 to 24 August 2025, hosted by the University of Bucharest.

This year’s edition brought together 10 teams from 6 countries, who competed by solving and defending open-ended chemistry problems in front of their peers and jury members.

Results

• 🥇 1st place (gold medal) – Team TOMCTO (Republic of Korea)

• 🥈 2nd place (silver medal) – Team d2sp3 (Romania)

• 🥈 3rd place (silver medal) – Hungarian Team Red (Hungary)

• 🥉4th place (bronze medal) – Hungarian Team Green (Hungary)
• 🥉5th place (bronze medal) – In Our Elements (Serbia)

In addition to team rankings, a number of individual and special prizes were awarded. The full results are available in the attached protocol.

Looking ahead

We are delighted to announce that the 9th International Chemistry Tournament will be hosted in the Republic of Korea, by the Korean Minjok Leadership Academy, in 2026.

We warmly thank all participants, team leaders, jury members, and organisers who made this year’s tournament possible, and we look forward to seeing the IChTo community grow even further next year.
